Day 36 & 37: Luke 17-20

I did read yesterday but never got around to writing some thoughts so I’m going to smash them together with todays thoughts.

  • The key thought out of chapter 17 for me was the servant coming in from working the field and then wanting to be thanked for what he is suppose to do. That is a convicting word. We live in an era where we want praise and thanks all the time for the very things we are suppose to do. I think this is mostĀ noticeableĀ in the NFL when a guy makes a tackle and then chooses to make it known that we should all go crazy for him for doing his job.
  • The key thought out of chapter 18 for me is the persistant widow. I am not persistant often because I’m not clear on what I want or rather I’m not clear on what God wants me to want. I think we would do well to sit and ponder what are a few key prayers God might be calling me to pray everyday.
  • The key thought out of chapter 19 is the journey to Jerusalem. We see glimpses of the journey in 17.11 and 18.35-36 but in chapter 19 we see in 19.1, 19.11, 19.28, and 19.41. Each of these scriptures reference Jesus on his way to Jerusalem. The idea being Jesus knew where he was headed.
  • The key thought out of chapter 20 is don’t question God. I find myself complaining in my heart about this or that and really what that complaining is is question God. I’m in need of greater amounts of faith. Obedience and trust.
