Sunday Night Recap

  • The morning started at 5:15 and I was pumped up! I quick got ready, got my McD’s (was originally charged 6.48 and decided to say something and boom the price went back to normal), then off to print connector cards.
  • Spent some time working on the funeral and prayed about the morning’s message some more.
  • Worship team was neither high nor low in spirit during set up but by the time the service was about to start we all agreed that we had a spirit of anticipation.
  • It was our tri-annual bring your gun to church Sunday.
  • People – People – and More People
  • I got to high five a lot of the Kidz Kovers which is always fun. I love it when our kids love church. (Reminder – no Kidz Kove next Sunday – I have an idea that will keep their interest and this time it doesn’t include fire)
  • The Common video was slightly out of balance but it almost gave it a cool artistic element – almost. I guess we’ll just show it again next Sunday.
  • Speaking of the common.org – way to go bridgers – You really stepped up. We are pumped to see how this can transform a city. Simple acts of kindness go along ways in giving us permission to share about Jesus.
  • Sing Sing Sing (the first song we sang) brought out some clapping – watch out – we may actually all clap at the same time one of these Sundays.
  • Love the heart of our team.
  • We had a vending machine on stage – and someone attempted to purchase a drink but their dollar was denied – up steps person number two – dollar 1 is received as is dollar number 2, however, upon the button being pressed the 2nd dollar comes back out along with overĀ 4 dollars of change made up of nickels, dimes, and quarters. It was the most random thing in the world. It looked staged but I honestly had no idea what to do with it.
  • Vending Machine God
    • We treat God like a Vending Machine
    • We treat the church like a Vending Machine
    • We need to see ourselves as a Vending Machine
    • We should look to God to vend us grace, love, faith, hope, etc.
  • Used up a lot of energy but had to do a quick turn around and get to the funeral home.
  • I’m not very good at funerals. It was humbling to be asked into this service.
  • Came home in time to watch the Bengals. It was a great day until the last 30 seconds of that game. Ok it was still a great day.

    Marty,

Had to work last week (11/22 & 11/29). I have been looking for your sermon on line but it hasn’t been posted yet. I would like to hear it. Could you let me know when you will make it avalable. Thanks Jim

It saddens me to report that the past two Sundays were not recorded. We should have the issue fixed as we move forward.
